Sydney University moved to outright second on the Shute Shield ladder after a comprehensive 35-23 victory over Manly at Manly Oval on Saturday.

It was a big day for the rugby club winning all grades away from home.

The Pirates defeated Southern Districts 30-26 on the weekend to jump into outright third spot and it promises to be a willing encounter at Uni No.1 Oval.

The only sour note from the weekend was first grade colts losing the top-of-the table clash at St Paul’s College Oval.

As a result, Manly leapfrogs the Students to top the table in the W. McMahon Memorial Shield.
