10 Sydney University Hockey Club (SUHC) representatives have been named in the 2013 Hockey NSW men’s and women’s Australian Hockey League (AHL) and 2014 men’s and women’s under 21 squads.
Nina Khoury, Georgie Morgan and Mathilda Carmichael – all currently in Japan as part of the Jillaroos squad – will be joined in NSW’s women’s AHL squad by Sydney Uni team mate Hollie Webster.
Khoury, Morgan, Carmichael and Webster will also compete together in the 2014 NSW women’s under 21 squad. Fellow Sydney Uni representative Maddy Rosser has also been selected in the squad.
Tom Lobsey and Gary Shaw have been selected in the NSW men’s AHL squad, while Jacky Tran has been selected in the state under 21 squad.
Khoury, Morgan, Carmichael, Webster and Tran are all SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holders.
In other news, five SUHC players were in the medals when Sydney won the A and B Division Finals at the Hockey NSW Men’s State Championships in Newcastle over the June long weekend.
SUHC’s Jacky Tran was part the Sydney 1s that won the A Division Grand Final 1-0 against Illawarra, while Scott Laird (captain), Shakti Rathore, Nicolas Johnston and Alistair Johnston were all part of the Sydney 2s squad that won the B Division Championship 4-1 against Orange.
