Southern Design Sydney Uni Flames star recruit Renae Camino has been named in the Jayco Australian Opals squad for the upcoming three-game tour of China later this month.
Camino – signed by the Flames for the 2013/2014 WNBL season – will be part of the Opals squad that will face China in a three-game series, with games on the 19th, 21st and 23rd of June.
The experienced scoring guard from last year’s WNBL Championship winners the Bendigo Spirit, will link up with the Flames after her commitments end with SEABL team the Bendigo Lady Braves.
Joining Camino on the tour to China will be SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder and Flames guard Katie-Rae Ebzery, who has been selected in the 12-player Emerging Opals squad that will compete in a four-nation tournament against an emerging China team, Hungary’s and the USA’s World University Games teams.
Ebzery, studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Human Movement & Health Education) at the University of Sydney, has played three seasons with the Flames. Last season Ebzery averaged 13.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
The selections of Camino and Ebzery came about after they were selected to take part in last week’s Opals and Emerging Opals Camp held at the AIS.
In the coming months the Flames will be announcing some exciting new signings. Keep up to date with these by following the Flames on Twitter ‘@SydUniFlames’ or liking them on Facebook by searching ‘Sydney Uni Flames WNBL’.
