Sydney University Women’s Rugby Club (SUWRC) sits in second place after the first five rounds of the 2013 Sydney Clubs Women Rugby competition.
Sydney Uni – having won four of their five games – are just one point behind Parramatta, who defeated the blue and gold’s back in round one. Since then Sydney Uni have defeated 2012 grand final winners Warringah (32-5), and swept aside Rockdale (26-22), Waverley (39-7) and Penrith (43-7).
These results have come despite a large turnover of personnel in season 2013 following the loss of several experienced players from last season due to injury, defence service, and retirement. Several new imports from the UK have given the back-line a boost and Sydney Uni’s rookie forwards have shown great promise since the first up loss to Parramatta.
Additionally, five youth players have joined the squad (aged 16-17) have displayed impressive skills and improvements with every match that has passed.
This Saturday Sydney Uni face the Warringah Rats at St. Johns Oval at 2pm.
