Sydney Uni’s first grade goalkeeper Troy Rossiter has been selected in Australia’s 25-man indoor hockey team following a strong showing at the Senior National Indoor Championships held in Canberra in January and a three day training camp held earlier this year.
Rossiter, who is part of Sydney Uni’s (outdoor) first grade team who currently sit in fifth position in the Sydney Cup, is now in the mix to be selected in a final 15-man squad that will tour Europe in January next year.
During two camps in Poland and Austria, Australia will play matches against a number of European nations preparing for the 2014 European Indoor Championships.
Selection in this squad will provide Rossiter with the opportunity to push forward his case to compete at the Indoor World Cup in Germany in February 2015.
Meanwhile, Sydney University finished well on top of their opposition during the Men’s Club Day on Saturday at the State Hockey Centre, Sydney Olympic Park.
Uni finished the day with four wins, one draw and one loss across all six grades over the weekend – including the top four grades all registering wins over Ryde Hunters Hill.
