Sydney University will look to string together back-to-back victories for the first time this season when they take on competition front-runners, Ainslie, at home this weekend.
The Students NEAFL side will face their sternest test yet this Saturday, when they take on an Ainslie outfit that comfortably disposed of second placed Queanbeyan by 62 points over the weekend.
Sydney Uni will also be full of confidence after putting the sword to Tuggerong last Sunday, defeating the boys from Canberra by 76 points on their own patch. This season the Students have struggled to maintain pressure for a full game. That was until last weekend when they managed to smash their way through the Tuggeranong defence, finishing with a convincing seven goal final quarter.
Tom Ayton, a NEAFL player and SUANFC High Performance Manager, was very pleased with the conditioning of the Students squad and their ability to put in a solid four quarter game. “This weekend is a huge game for us against Ainslie,” explained Ayton. “We will be looking for back-to-back wins after our first four quarter performance against Tuggeranong. A win against Ainslie will do wonders for our confidence; however they have an experienced squad stacked with proven NEAFL performers.”
The Students will be keen to impress during this Saturday’s ‘Ladies Day’ and will look to put the icing on the cake of what should be a fantastic day for the club. “Obviously it would be great to have a big win coinciding with one of our big social events, ‘Ladies Day’,” said Ayton. “It is always a great time for us show our appreciation for the work a lot of the women around our club do.”
‘Ladies Day’ at Sydney University Oval No. 1 is one of the major social events on the SUANFC calendar and the Students will be backed by an expected strong home crowd. SUANFC will host a variety of culinary deals for spectators and encourages all fans to come down for a fantastic day of quality AFL footy.
