Sydney University Wrestling Club representative Jayden Lawrence has continued his dominant 2013 form, winning three gold medals at the Freestyle Wrestling Oceania Championships held in the University of Guam Field House in Guam.
Last year Lawrence represented Australia at the World Junior Championships and narrowly missed selected for the 2012 London, but he has bounced back to his best this year.
Lawrence, who won the 74kg division at February’s 2013 National Wrestling Championships, was crowned the ‘Best Overall Wrestler for the Oceania Region’ for the fourth consecutive year after winning gold in all three divisions that he competed in – junior 74kg, senior 74kg and beach wrestling (heavyweight).
New club member Cory Keating won gold in the cadets 58kg division.
Lawrence and Keating will now turn their attention to the Australia Cup, which takes place on 17-19 May 2013 at Progress Hall, Coolaroo in Victoria.
