SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) netball scholarship holder Emily Chancellor is more confident than ever that she has a future in women’s rugby sevens after a successful debut with the Barbarians at last week’s National Women’s Rugby Sevens Championship.

Chancellor (Bachelor of Education & Social Work), motivated by the prospect of competing for Australia at the 2016 Olympic Games, swapped a netball skirt for some footy shorts as she started in each of the Barbarians games.

Despite the 11th placed finish, Chancellor couldn’t have been happier with her introduction to sevens rugby.

“It was a fantastic learning experience and I had a great time on the field with all of the girls,” said Chancellor.

Chancellor was selected in the Barbarian’s squad after putting in an impressive audition at the AIS camp at the end of last year.
