Former SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder Murray Stewart continued in his winning ways at the 2013 Australian Canoe Sprint Championships in Perth, as he qualified for the Australian World Cup team after a series of strong performances over the weekend.
Stewart (Bachelor of Architecture Graduate), a 2012 London Olympic Games gold medallist, teamed up with fellow Olympic champion David Smith as they triumphed in the men’s K4 1000m, before Stewart added silver in the men’s K1 1000m and K1 500m.
Stewart will now turn his attention to competing for Australia in this year’s first Canoe Sprint World Cup event, which will be held in Hungary from May 10-12.
