SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder Nicola Maitland’s two year dream of representing Australia at the 2013 Under 19 Softball World Championships will come true, with the North Shore third baser picked in the national squad to play at the championships in Canada in July.

“Nicola is currently undertaking six days a week of intense fitness and skills training in preparation for the event,’’ mother Gaye Braiding told the Northern District Times last week.

“She did very well in her HSC last year, balancing sport, work and study and has just started a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sports Science) at Sydney University.

She was awarded a Sydney Uni scholarship and entry into the Elite Athlete Program.’’

Maitland played third base in the 2013 Under-19 NSW team which won the National Championships.
