Former SUSF Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holders Rosalyn Lawrence and Jessica Fox secured their places on the national team for this year’s World Championships after claiming key victories over the weekend at the 2013 Australian Canoe Open at Bradys Lake in the heart of Tasmania.
Lawrence was consistent all weekend, winning both rounds of the women’s K1.
Following a disappointing fifth place finish in the women’s K1, Fox left her run late before turning the tides in her favour and dominating the women’s C1. The 2012 London Olympic silver medallist won in a time of 107.07, over eight seconds ahead of Alison Borrows and Lawrence.
Lawrence and Fox will represent Auystralia at the 2013 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships from September 11 to 15, 2013 in Prague, Czech Republic.
