The Universities Women’s Cricket Club (UWCC) will head into Sunday’s Twenty20 double header against both of last season’s grand finalists with plenty of confidence, knowing that a semi-final position is guaranteed regardless of this weekend’s results.
UWCC, who lead the Twenty20 competition by one point and who are also leading the main premiership competition (comprising of first grade Limited Over matches and first grade Twenty20 matches), come up against last year’s Twenty20 premiers Bankstown (11am) on Sunday before taking on runners up St George (3pm) just hours later. Both matches will take place at UNSW’s David Phillips Sports Complex.
The semi-finals and final of the Twenty20 competition will take place on Sunday February 3.
In other news the NSW Breakers, led by UWCC representatives Alex Blackwell (captain) and Rachael Haynes (vice-captain), have now won an incredible eight national Limited Over titles in a row and one T20 title.
Fresh from their success for NSW where they won the elusive double titles, Blackwell and Haynes have flown to Melbourne to go into camp with the Australian team where they will play two limited overs matches against New Zealand.
They will then head to India where the Australian team will compete at the ICC World Cup.
