The Sydney Uni Lions have their minds firmly set on a record 10th straight championship, after completely dominating their 2012 Gridiron Waratah Bowl semi final against a bruised and battered Wollongong Mustangs.

After leading by 43 points at half-time, the Lions cruised in the second half to run out eventual winners 62-34 and set up a grand final match-up with the University of Technology (UTS), who upset the West Sydney Pirates in the other semi final on Saturday.

In perfect football conditions the Lions scored early in the match, with Alex Watson running the length of the field to secure the opening touchdown. This would be the theme for the first half as the Lions were rampant, racking up touchdown after touchdown to head into the sheds at the main break up 49-6. Only a series of second half player rotations spared the Mustangs from a greater defeat, as the Lions secured their 82nd straight victory.

This Saturday, Sydney Uni takes on UTS in the Grand Final at 5 Sports Caringbah, inside the grounds of the Endeavour Sports High School. Kick-off is at 6pm.
