The Sydney Uni Women’s Rugby Club (SUWRC) has returned to Australia after competing in the third annual Coral Coast 7s rugby tournament held in Sigatoka, Fiji.

This year saw the inaugural inclusion of a women’s competition, which allowed Sydney Uni compete against four Fijian teams and three other Australian teams, including the winners of the tournament the Aussie Pearls.

Despite the girls being unable to secure a win, the tournament served as a valuable measurement tool for necessary improvements and preparation for the rugby season ahead in 2013.

The competition and skill was, as expected, very high in a country where rugby 7’s is a national sport.

Overall, the tournament has incentivised the girls to further their training throughout the summer, while simultaneously enhancing connections across the rugby world by the close bonds formed with women’s rugby of Fiji.
