2008 Olympic Games silver medallist Rohanee Cox will tonight suit up for the Southern Design Sydney Uni Flames in their crucial WNBL clash against the Logan Thunder at the Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre (SUSAC).
Cox, a 32 year old forward with nine seasons of WNBL experience – including stints with the AIS, Perth Lynx, Townsville Fire and most recently the West Coast Waves – has signed with the Flames for the remainder of the 2012/13 WNBL season and will add some much needed experience amongst a young and enthusiastic Flames roster.
“We are really excited to have someone of Rohanee’s quality on board,” said Flames Head Coach Karen Dalton ahead of tonight’s 7pm tip off at home against the Thunder.
“She will be great for the squad, especially as someone who our younger players can look up to.”
Cox played in the WNBL last season with the West Coast Waves, where she was named as their MVP and best defensive player.
In 2008 Cox was a member of the Opals squad that claimed a silver medal in the Beijing Olympics, and she was part of the preliminary Australian Opals squad for the 2012 London Olympics.
Tickets to the Flames game against the Logan Thunder can be purchased Friday October 26 (tonight) from 6pm at the Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre. Tip-off is at 7pm.
