The Sydney Uni Hockey Club has five girls representing the Hockey New South Wales Arrows in the 2012 Women’s Australian Hockey League currently held in Perth.
Mathilda Carmichael, Nina Khoury, Georgie Morgan, Cara Simpson and Hollie Webster (all SUSF Elite Athlete Program scholarship holders)are all playing for the NSW team that knocked off the previously undefeated Queensland Scorchers on Sunday.
A 63rd minute field goal by Webster was enough for the Arrows to defeat the Scorchers 1-0 and move to fifth position on the ladder, with two wins, two losses and a draw.
They next take on WA and Darwin, before the finals series takes place this weekend.
In the Australian Hockey League (AHL), Sydney University men’s player and former SUSF Elite Athlete Program scholarship holder Tom Lobsey is playing for the Canberra Lakers.
