  3. Ebzery named in national 3×3 World Cup team

Southern Design Sydney Uni Flames guard Katie Ebzery has been named in the Australian women’s basketball team that will compete in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup to be held in Athens, Greece from 23 – 26 August.

Ebzery, who has enrolled in a Bachelor of Education in Human Movement degree at the university, is preparing for her third season with the Flames. She averaged 10.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game last season in the WNBL, and shot 41.2 per cent from the floor. Ebzery has kept in shape playing for Newcastle in the ABA during the off season.

The FIBA 3×3 World Championship is the top level 3×3 basketball National Team event. The 24 team format sees teams divided into four groups of six teams and play in a round-robin first round against their five respective group opponents. The top four teams from each group progress to the Finals where the tournament continues in a standard knock-out format.

Ebzery will be joined by Tess Madgen, Sara Blicavs and Alice Kunek in the Australian team.
