Following on from their Henley Royal Regatta gold earlier this month, Sydney University Boat Club (SUBC ) members and Sydney Uni Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holders Ryan Edwards and Sasha Belonogoff have teamed up with Ben Morley and Jay Ditmarsch to claim bronze in the men’s quadruple skulls at the Under 23 World Championships in Lithuania.
The Australian quartet, coached by Sydney Uni Director of Rowing Mark Prater, did well to finish third in front of France and the Czech Republic. Ukraine defended their title to pip the second placed Italian crew who recorded the fastest qualifying time.
Edwards is studying a Graduate Diploma in Commerce at Sydney University, while Belonogoff is completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Ex.Sp.Sci.).
Fellow SUBC representative and Sydney Uni Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder Will Raven coxed the Australian men’s coxed four to fifth in the final at the Championships, finishing behind Serbia, USA, New Zealand and France. Germany finished in sixth position.
Raven is completing a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science at Sydney University.
