Sydney University Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder Alix Kennedy has finished with a discus silver medal at the Taiwan Championships in Taipei over the weekend.
Kennedy, who is also an elite netballer at Sydney University, threw a personal best of 54.38m to place second in the discus event.
The result is a brilliant one for the 20 year old Commerce/Law student.
In other news, fellow Renshaw EAP scholarship holder Lachlan Renshaw clocked a time of 1.45.80 in the 800m at Morocco on Sunday, missing the Olympic A standard by a mere .20 (roughly 1.5metres short over 800m).
It was just shy of his personal best of 1:45.66 set in March 2011.
Renshaw (B. Commerce) has however made a very serious claim for selection by going so close to the A standard, and he will now go back to London for training before racing in Stockholm, where he will once again attempt to qualify for this year’s Olympics.
The 2012 Olympic Games begin in London on July 27.
