The Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC) proved why they are the reigning Men’s Winter Premiers with a dominant performance at the NSW Road Running Championships over the weekend, with the men’s team winning the Open division by a the large margin of 34 points over Bankstown Sports.
The SUAC team consisted of Bradley Croker (2nd in 30.49), Ben Liddy ( 6th 31.47) Jack Colreavy (10th 32.12) and newcomer Keith Gregson (12th 32.28).
Croker also took an individual silver medal in the NSW Men’s Road Running Championship despite having a slight Achilles tendon problem.
Croker commented “I was really happy with today’s run, I am just getting over this achilles injury so it was really nice to be able to put in a decent performance especially considering many of my friends and my girlfriend were here to watch.”
Croker will travel to San Francisco next weekend where he will join over 60,000 competitors in the famous Bay to Breakers Road Race.
Interestingly, the SUAC men showed considerable depth in this event with the SUAC ‘B’ team finishing 6th overall in the Open Men’s category, the team was represented by Nick Bellemore, Russell Desaix-Chin, Miles Waring and Sam Colless.
The next event for SUAC in the Winter Premiership is the NSW Cross Country Relays held at Miranda on 3rd June, where the club is expected to put in a strong showing.
