Sydney University Hockey Club (SUHC) women’s 1st’s have avenged last years preliminary final defeat to Moorebank, after claiming a comprehensive 5-1 victory against the same opposition on Sunday.
An early goal to Sydney Uni seemed to set the tone for the match, with the girls continuing their aggressive press, turning the ball over through hard running by the strikers.
Another forced turnover allowed Sydney Uni to take a 2-0 lead after just 10 minutes.
Even with a severely depleted bench Uni kept up the intensity and it was 4-0 by half-time.
After the break Moorebank come out firing and they were able to score from a short corner.
Uni blocked any thought of a Moorebank comeback, and some hard running and on the ball toughness created a number of attacks which led to more goals.
