The Universities Women’s Cricket Club – a joint venture between Sydney Uni and UNSW – cleaned up at the annual Sydney Grade Cricket awards night, with wicket keepers in all their teams taking out their respective keeper of the year awards across the entire competition.

Kiwi born Charlotte Mizzi, who now resides in the eastern suburbs, picked up the 3rd grade keeper award in her first year in the Sydney Grade competition, while Katherine Wong collected both the U/17 keepers award and U/17 best batting average award.

The 1st grade keeper award went to Emily Mifsud who edged out Australian & NSW keeper Alyssa Healy and Lily Bardsley from Gordon, to pick up her award.

Other awards to go to Universities WCC included Alex Blackwell (Australian vice captain and NSW captain) for 1st grade batting aggregate (526 runs) and batting average (87.7), and Rachel Li – Brewer Shield (U/17) Player of the Year.

Sydney University Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder Caitlin Rawstron picked up the 3rd grade batting average award (68.6).

All the players are enjoying a break over winter and getting back into their studies, but are all looking forward to the summer where they will once again play for Universities WCC.

Alex Blackwell will once again lead the club 1st grade team on the field and coach the U/17team, which is encouraging all girls (of all ability) to pick up a bat or a ball and take up cricket.
