The Sydney University men’s team have an excellent recent record over the Briars Hockey Club, and this continued over the weekend as a 3-1 victory lifted Sydney University above Briars into 6th place on the Sydney Hockey Association ladder.
University started brightest, and Aaron Goninon set up Scott Laird to give them 1-0 advantage. Briars fought back and scored from a short corner.
University restored their advantage just after half-time when Peter Kelly scored. The game was then officially over after Marc Collie smashed the ball home for a 3-1 win.
The men’s team have now won two of their first four games and sit in 6th place on goal difference.
