Sydney Uni lost the battle of the new NEAFL teams on Saturday, going down to Sydney Hills by 15 points.
The Eagles led at every change to run out eventual winners 14.12-96 to the Students 12.9-81.
Hills Eagles jumped out to an early lead, kicking the first five goals of the contest.
Sydney University fought back though, and gave the spectators a fantastic contest that was alive well into the final quarter.
The students best players were Peter Dugmore, Josh Cole, Ryan Kennedy, Glen Smith, Aron Everett and Adam McConnochie.
Students Head Coach Roger Moten was pleased with the effort, but disappointed with the loss, saying “The endeavour was never questioned and the club can be proud of our efforts at the way we competed, but to walk away defeated, left these positives feeling somewhat hollow.”
“25% of the side is new and the benefit of another game will bring us closer to a memorable performance.”
Sydney University take on Belconnen at home (Henson Park) this weekend.
