The CSNA/Sydney Uni netball team is off the mark after defeating Blue Mountains 42-40 in Round 4 of the Waratah Cup.
In a pulsating game, the lead changed continuously, until a last quarter positional move to Goal Keeper for Joanne Sutton helped shut down Blue Mountains goal scoring options.
Overall the major improvements were in attacking the ball, remaining disciplined and applying first ball pressure.
Libby Cook-Black, normally an attacking player, filled in for the first half as Goal Defender. Cook-Black worked strongly with Sutton, Rhiannon Dolahenty and Emily Chancellor.
At the attacking end, Donnay’s defence was consistent, Nikki Franks was fast off the line and Alix Kennedy’s rebounding in the shooting circle was outstanding.
Gemma Ferrington, who is about to head off to Under 19 Nationals, was restricted to half a game.
Billy Gurr was unable to play as she is about to leave for the Under 17 Nationals.
Last week, Sydney Uni/CSNA were defeated by competition leaders Eastwood-Ryde.
