The Sydney University women’s rugby sevens team cleaned up at the first ever Canterbury Sevens held at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast over the weekend.

The girl’s cruised through tournament as undefeated champions with only three tries scored against them the entire day.

Ashleigh Hewson, Caroline Vakalahi and Iliseva Batibasaga were the top try-scorers. Other outstanding performers on the day were Wellie Clark and Tuaine Inamata. Roisin McNulty not only played but was also the unofficial tournament physio. On Saturday March 10, the girls will be competing at Sevens by the Sea at Warringah Rugby Park.
