Former Sydney University Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder and Canoe sprint athlete Murray Stewart was the big winner over the weekend at the 2012 NSW Canoe Sprint Championships, winning five medals including three gold.
Stewart, who recently graduated from Sydney University having completed a M. Architecture, won gold in the men’s K4 1000m, K1 1000m and K1 500m, before picking up silver in the men’s K1 200m and bronze in the men’s K2 200m.
Stewart’s hectic schedule and outstanding results are a promising sign ahead of the upcoming Olympic qualification events.
