The Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC) is delighted to announce Daniel Gilmore as the 2012 North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) Assistant Senior Coach.
Daniel comes to the Sydney University based NEAFL club after seven years as a professional AFL and dual premiership WAFL footballer having been listed with the Fremantle Dockers and South Fremantle (SFFC) between 2002 and 2009.
Gilmore has most recently held the position of Assistant Coach with the SFFC Colts and is widely regarded to have played a very important role in the football development of the three young players drafted from South Fremantle in the 2011 AFL Draft.
With its inaugural NEAFL year ahead of Sydney University, the Club will sharpen its focus on player development. In as much Gilmore’s playing experience at AFL and WAFL level and his proven ability to work with young talent will provide real value and a needed point of difference, enabling the Club to fast track young players to a NEAFL standard.
As the Club expands its High Performance Program, Gilmore will play a key role in the development of talent through the U18 Colts, Sydney AFL Premier Division and the NEAFL players at SUANFC.
Sydney University President, Chas Wilkinson, said “Daniel has already proved his ability to work with and fast track the development of young players, add to this his playing experience at state and national levels and it is fair to say we are ecstatic to have recruited Daniel to the SUANFC coaching panel.”
Daniel is also a qualified Chiropractor and will commence practice in Sydney from January, 2012.
