Sydney University’s premiership players Alex Hargreaves and Illiseva Batibasaga have helped steer the Australian women’s team into third place at last weekend’s HSBC Sevens World series held in Dubai.
The girls were defeated in their semi-final 12-10 by eventual tournament winners Canada, but were too strong for the USA, winning 22-5 in the third versus fourth play-off.
