Former Australian Sevens Captain and Sydney University Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder, Bernard Foley, won the Sevens Player of the Year award last night at the Australian Rugby’s premier awards night in Sydney.
Foley captained the Australia Sevens team during the 2010-11 HSBC World Series, where the team recorded their best season to date. The Australian team featured in the finals series at each of the eight competitions (Dubai, South Africa, New Zealand, US, Hong Kong, Australia, England and Scotland) and finished in sixth place.
Foley was one of Sydney University Football Club’s seven players to make their Super Rugby debut during 2011, when he took to the field in the Waratahs Ffnals series game against the Blues at Eden Park.
On returning to club rugby Foley has featured in 12 First Grade games for Sydney University, scoring 64 points for the Club in the 2011 season.
