The Sydney University Australia National Football Club (SUANFC) has been invited to join the National Eastern Australian Football League (NEAFL) – Eastern Conference from season 2012.
This invitation represents a significant milestone in the SUANFC’s history. University’s rivals, the East Coast Eagles have also received an invitation and, if approved by its membership, will enter the competition in 2012.
After registering interest during the backend of season 2010, SUANFC entered an intensive application process and over the past 10 weeks has presented to and met with representatives of the AFL at local, state and national management levels.
While much work has been done in order to achieve a formal invitation, the Club will now seek the voice and opinion of the Club before moving forward. The SUANFC Committee will hold an open “SUANFC NEAFL Forum” during which members and those affected will have the opportunity to raise concerns, provide suggestions and ask any questions regarding the impact of entry to the NEAFL across the Sydney University Australian National Football Club and its stakeholders.
If the requisite information for a full and proper response is not available during the NEAFL Forum, the Club will provide responses prior to a “Special General Meeting” (SGM) at which the Club will then seek the formal approval of its members to enter the NEAFL. The Club will announce dates for both the Forum and SGM over the coming week.
The SUANFC Committee looks forward to your attendance at both and will release pre-meeting documentation to ensure our members are well informed.
