Jurek Stasiak won the men’s final and Lara Picone won the women’s final of the Technifibre – Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness Open Grasscourt Tennis Tournament were played at Sydney University last Friday.
Stasiak defeated Marious Zelba 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-1 in the men’s final, while Picone accounted for Carissa Ristevski 6-2, 6-1 to win the women’s final.
Justin Astri and Troy Lockwood teamed up to take out the men’s doubles title with a 7-5, 62 win over Zelba and Dejan Bodrozic.
The Singles winners took away $1000 each, with the doubles players collecting $500 each for their efforts.
Despite having to cancel Wednesday’s matches due to the dust storms, the competition was still able to finish on time – with players presentations directly afterwards.
